Community PatrolSTRATFORD COMMUNITY PATROL Community Patrollers act as 'eyes and ears' for the Police acting as a general deterrent for any would be trouble makers. Patrollers note anything that could be suspicious and inform Police immediately of incidents requiring urgent attention. The Volunteers work in three's on a roster covering Friday and Saturday nights. One volunteer monitors the CCTV cameras at the Stratford Police Station, the other two volunteers patrol in the Community Patrol Car. Launched in December 2009 by the Central Taranaki Safe Community Trust with Stratford District Council and Stratford Police. Volunteers have to be vetted by the Police before they can become a patroller and then they must complete a period of training (three months) where they work with those who are already trained. Regular group training meetings are held by Police. Any person who has a caring attitude to their community may offer their services.
